Location: Jacksonville, FloridaDescription: The bridge project consists of 29 span structures crossing the Intracoastal Waterway. This unique structure includes an eight span continuous flat slab section, two 660-foot steel girder units, and the rest of the 3800-foot bridge is comprised of Florida 72" Bulb "T" American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (ASSHTO) girders.
Significant Facts:- The project was concluded approximately four months earlier than expected.
- Unique to this project was the use of Yibro Stone and concrete columns to stabilize the soil under the west approach reinforced earth wall. This was the first use of this procedure on a Florida Department of Transportation project.
