Headline: Capacity Calculator

Project Owner: Department of Defense Education Activity (DoDEA)

Description: G&O's Federal Programs group was contracted by the Department of Defense Education Activity (DoDEA) to develop a Web based tool that would give school administrators the ability to predict a school's functional capacity and/or determine a school's space deficiencies, if the enrollment exceeds its functional capacity. This capacity calculator establishes a baseline for space, staffing, and enrollment. Scenarios can then be created to determine how space and staffing needs will change with increased enrollment. These scenarios can be routed for approval and incorporation into the school’s master planning process.

Significant Facts:

  • This project responds to the unique demands associated with Base Realignment and Closure process (BRAC). The mass realignment of military installations is relocating military families at unprecedented rates. The Capacity Calculator provides DoDEA the tool to address the deficiencies of schools prior to the arrival of new students.
