Description: Project to construct 278 two-, three-, and four-bedroom units; replace neighborhood amenities; replace existing utilities; and to demolish 167 existing units.

Significant Facts:
  • The project incorporated best management practices (BMPs) for a stormwater management permit to eliminate the need for a wet pond in the housing project.
  • G&O completed this fast-tracked project within one year, and received a U.S. Navy Rear Admiral's Award and an American Planning Association award for outstanding sustainable planning.

Project Services: G&O services included developing a Master Plan for 775 dwelling units for
the entire Slocum Village Neighborhood, hazardous material survey in the Hancock and Slocum Villages, National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) Categorical Exclusion, Value Engineering, specification development and demolition drawings, and review and evaluation of contractor's proposals.
