They say the devil’s in the detail and as a fire protection project engineer, Sam couldn't agree more. The way people use spaces in buildings is distinct and unique, so accommodating these details into his design and recommendations provides effective results. Buildings go through various stages of remodelling during their life cycle, so understanding and planning for their intended use and knowing the desired adaptability for a building’s footprint is critical in creating a safe space for the community and emergency services in fire events.
