Steady Growth Leads to Promotions in
Greenhorne & O'Mara's Transportation Practice
LAUREL, MD – December 16, 2008 – Sustained growth by the Mid-Atlantic Transportation division of engineering consulting firm Greenhorne & O'Mara (G&O) led to two significant promotions. Michael A. Retton, P.E., P.S., was promoted to Mid-Atlantic Transportation Regional Vice President; and Simon Simon, P.E., was elevated to Corporate Vice President. Their promotions are part of the company's leadership transition plan, and position them to assume greater influence and responsibility for the overall success of G&O's Transportation practice.

Mr. Retton, who has served as Vice President of Mid-Atlantic Transportation since November 2004, has 24 years of transportation industry expertise, working with state Departments of Transportation and FEMA. Mr. Retton has had a significant role in building the Construction Engineering & Inspection and Transportation Design program with some large-scale projects, such as the I-81 corridor in Virginia and the Boothsville T-Beam Bridge Replacement in West Virginia. He also established the G&O Fairmont, WV office.

Mr. Simon has served as the Vice President of Structures since 2004, and has 30 years of national and international experience in structural engineering for large and complex bridges, highway, and Design-Build projects, such as bridge replacement on I-70 and final design on 1-95 in Maryland. His knowledge and experience have accelerated the development of the Transportation Structures group in the Mid-Atlantic Transportation division, and Mr. Simon was also instrumental in establishing G&O's growing structural engineering practice in the Southeast.

G&O President and CEO Frank R. Finch, P.E., commented, "G&O is well-positioned to support our state Department of Transportation clients in both traditional and Design Build methods of project delivery. Mike Retton's leadership and in-depth understanding of the transportation markets is a major reason for the continued progress of the Mid-Atlantic Transportation division. Simon Simon's leadership has fueled the growth of the Structures group throughout the Eastern U.S., and significantly increased G&O's reputation in the field."

Greenhorne & O'Mara (G&O) is a full-service engineering consulting firm that provides solutions in the areas of general civil, transportation, environmental, water resources, and hazard mitigation and security services to clients in the public and private sectors.
