RALEIGH, NC – February 21, 2007 – The U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) has become an advocate for structures that are designed, built, and used to protect our natural resources and health. The USGBC has developed a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design® (LEED) building certification system and a professional accreditation for those in the building industry who have demonstrated competency in LEED requirements and resources. The engineering consulting firm Greenhorne & O'Mara (G&O) announces the designation of Janette Tudor, P.E., Senior Project Manager, as a LEED Accredited Professional (LEED AP).
"We are very proud of Janette's accomplishment," said G&O's Will Bynum, Vice President, General Civil Federal Programs. "A LEED AP is a valuable credential and it strengthens the company's qualifications and value to our clients when responding to RFPs requiring this high level of knowledge and expertise. The process for earning this accreditation requires experience and an in-depth knowledge and understanding of the requirements, technologies, and advantages of building "green"."
"I first heard of LEED through G&O's contract with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Savannah District at Fort Bragg," said Janette Tudor. "Because this multiple task order contract involved all aspects of the building industry, including environmental sustainability, it provided the groundwork to increase my understanding of LEED concepts. By 2008, the U.S. Army has mandated that all MILCON (military construction projects over $1M) be LEED Silver, so it is just a matter of time before the new skills will be needed."
Ms. Tudor has widely varied engineering experience on a variety of projects for state, county, federal, and private clients. She received her B.S. in Civil Engineering from the North Carolina State University and is a registered Professional Engineer in three states. Ms. Tudor is affiliated with the Society of American Military Engineers, NC Chapter Women's Transportation Seminar, American Council of Engineering Companies.
