LAUREL, MD – September 6, 2006 – In response to the growth in northwestern Florida, Greenhorne & O'Mara, Inc. (G&O), engineering consulting firm, acquired the Pensacola-based civil/structural engineering consulting firm of James J. Mallett, P.E., P.A. on August 31, 2006. With this acquisition, and Mallett's 27-year history of service to both the private and public sectors, G&O will further expand its capacity and range of services in this growing region of Florida.

With facilities throughout the Southeast and Mid-Atlantic, G&O has had a presence in Florida for many years, with five offices in the state. G&O is known in Florida for its civil, transportation, water and environmental, and security and hazard mitigation work performed for the military, state and municipal agencies, and private industry.

G&O Chairman, President, and Chief Executive Officer John J. Healey, Ph.D., P.E., said, "We are excited about this venture. James J. Mallett, P.E., P.A. has provided clients in the Southeastern United States with civil and structural engineering services for more than 25 years. The company specializes in site work design, structural design, permitting, threshold inspections, investigations and reports, construction administration and litigation services. The newly-acquired firm will be known as James J. Mallett & Associates, a division of Greenhorne & O'Mara.
