LAUREL, MD – August 24, 2006 – In response to the increase in contracts awarded to the firm's planning group, Greenhorne & O'Mara, Inc. (G&O), engineering consulting firm, announces the appointment of Robert E. Thorn, ASLA, as Civil Development Planning and Engineering Department Head. Working from the Atlanta, Georgia office, Mr. Thorn will manage the design, planning, land development, and implementation efforts for public and private sector general civil clients in the Southeast.

Mr. Thorn's experience includes urban, environmental, recreational, campus design and planning; healthcare facilities; retail and mixed-use commercial and industrial facilities; residential; and resort and golf course communities. Over the course of his career, he has contributed his planning and design skills on numerous public and private sector projects such as Pleasure Island and the Norway Pavilion at Disney World, Florida; Carroll Creek Park, Frederick, Maryland; the "Market Village," Smyrna, Georgia; Kiawah Island, South Carolina; and American Express Data Centers located in North Carolina and Arizona. He has a B.S. degree in Landscape Architecture from West Virginia University, holds Council of Landscape Architecture Registration Boards (CLARB) certification, and is a Registered Landscape Architect in 22 states.
