LAUREL, MD – June 21, 2006 – Greenhorne & O'Mara (G&O) national engineering consulting firm, was re-awarded a contract by Maryland State Highway Administration (MSHA), statewide contract to provide civil and environmental engineering services required under the National Pollution Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permit. Created under the 1972 Clean Water Act, the NPDES permit program controls water pollution by regulating point sources that discharge pollutants into the nation's waters. Under this contract, G&O is providing assessment and inventory, GIS mapping, database products, inspections, maintenance, retrofit design and program management support services for MSHA's state-wide assets associated with stormwater management and water quality. The $1 million contract is for a period of 5 years.
"G&O has held this contract for the past 5 years and we are pleased to be re-awarded the important job," said Vincent DiCamillo, G&O Vice President, Southeast Water & Environment. "We feel that our experience with MSHA and the breadth of services G&O is providing – both environmental and civil engineering – helped immensely in being re-awarded this work. We have solid knowledge of the NPDES program and are looking forward to continuing to provide water quality services in support of this vital environmental initiative."
