Viewshed AssessmentsG&O is well-versed in conducting viewshed analyses to assess the potential effects of a proposed project in natural and historic settings. Key scenic qualities considered in a viewshed assessment include: landforms, vegetation, water, color, adjacent scenery, scarcity, and cultural modifications in the different visual zones (i.e. foreground, middle ground, background). In many instances, viewshed assessments may be used to support NEPA documentation and Section 106 requirements to develop context-sensitive solutions and minimize visual impacts. G&O's planners are familiar with many different viewshed assessment methodologies and tools.
